Lokal Adventure
Design & full-stack development
- Ruby on Rails
- Hotwire
- PostgreSQL
- AWS S3
The context
Lokal Adventure lets you book outdoor experiences and activities online. What looks like a simple store actually hides a rich mechanism: dated sessions, limited seats, gear to rent, reseller partners, and clean invoicing.
The challenge
Handling time-slotted activity booking (availability, participants, remaining seats) while opening distribution to partners, with gear rental and online payment — all multilingual.
My answer
- Ruby on Rails platform (Hotwire, PostgreSQL): products (activities), sessions/events, participants, orders and order lines.
- Gear rental built into the cart (gear + dedicated lines).
- Payments and invoicing: payment tracking, invoice generation.
- Partner distribution: product availability and exclusions per partner, to sell beyond the site.
- Multilingual (i18n) and safety/risk information per activity, media stored on AWS S3.
The result
A complete, flexible booking engine, able to sell directly or through a partner network. A neat demonstration of e-commerce business logic applied to adventure tourism.
